SPRINT CANOE KAYAK

The Rideau Canoe Club (RCC) offers Sprint Canoe Kayak programs to members aged 9 and up. These programs provide instruction and training for beginners and experienced paddlers alike in the Olympic sport of canoe and kayak. The club's Special Olympics and Para Canoe programs are available for intellectually and physically disabled paddlers. RCC's master's programs suit adults new to the sport, returning to the sport and those that have been long-time paddlers.

Club membership is required to participate in sprint canoe kayak programs (with the exception of Intro to Sprint). Membership covers a full year from the date of registration.

LEARN MORE about membership.

All programs are led by RCC coaches that are NCCP, Standard First Aid and CPR certified. All coaches have Pleasure Craft Operation cards and current Criminal Records checks.

LEARN MORE about the RCC coaching staff.

The RCC is proud to host and attend several regattas throughout the on water season. The only way for a regatta to happen is with the help of our committed volunteers. Part of becoming a member of the RCC and signing up for the sprint program is committing to volunteering as per the RCC Volunteer Policy.

Volunteering is a great way to get to know the sport and wonderful people who make it such a special environment. We look forward to seeing you at one of the events!

U14 SPRINT PROGRAMS
Year-round programs for kids aged 9 - 14. The focus is on learning paddling skills, enjoying the beautiful Rideau River, making friends, and age-appropriate athletic training that follows Long Term Athlete Development principles. The goal is to develop water sport skills and confidence while having a great time in a safe and supportive environment.

If you are new to the sport, the Intro to Sprint Program is a great introduction to the sport that is available as a 2-week camp in the summer that does not require a membership.

The program is tailored to meet individual athlete needs, and therefore does not always follow a standard schedule. The U18 Schedule changes weekly depending on the load of the training cycle, the competition schedule, and the coaching assessment of athlete needs. Each week the schedule is communicated via email from the High Performance Coordinator to the athletes. The information below is intended for planning purposes only to get a general idea of what the U18 schedule will entail.
