RCC's New Website is here!
We are so pleased to announce that we have launched a new website. The URL is the same - www.rideaucanoeclub.ca - have a look!
Many thanks to Tom Hoferek and Rob Gauthier for buiding the website, and to all who contributed to its content.
We hope you visit regularly for updates on news, programs, events and fundraising efforts as the club remains an active community over the fall and winter season.
NCC Update: Hog's Back Swing Bridge to Reopen
The National Capital Commission (NCC) has advised that the rehabilitation of the Hog’s Back Swing Bridge is reaching completion. NCC issued the following update this week:
The NCC would like to advise the public that it will reopen the Hog’s Back Swing Bridge as of Monday, October 5, 2020, at 3 pm.
Following the reopening of the bridge, work crews will need to test the endurance of the bridge throughout the month of October.
During this period, it is possible that motor vehicle traffic will experience temporary closures of approximately 10 to 20 minutes, between 9 am and 6 pm. Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to use the detour in place over the Rideau Canal locks during these temporary closures.
The NCC urges all users to exercise caution, respect working crews and equipment, and obey signage and flag persons at the site.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the NCC’s client services at 613-239-5000 or email@example.com.
Racecourse is out, but boats are still in!
We had an amazing crew of innovative volunteers helping Reid with removing the race course last weekend! A HUGE thank you to - Rob Gauthier, Charles Regnier (The Great!), Perry Pucci, James Price, Nate Busa, Richard Cobden, Ron Sibthorpe, Hector Carranco, and Adam Richard for all of your work.
Paddling continues as long as the weather cooperates. A reminder that dock duty remains available as follows:
