U18 & High Performance Lead

Niklas M. Hansen – U18 & High-Performance Lead, ChPC

Niklas M. Hansen joined the Rideau Canoe Club in 2022 and leads the U18 and High-Performance programs. He brings over a decade of international coaching and leadership experience from the Danish high-performance system, where he served as Youth National Team Manager, Talent Development Coach, and U18/U23 National Team Coach. 

At Rideau, Niklas is committed to a holistic, athlete-centred approach that supports long-term success in both sport and life. He focuses on building strong training environments, evidence-based programming, and a collaborative culture among athletes, coaches, and staff.

Adam Baird - U18 Program Coach & Sprint Equipment Manager

Adam Baird joined the Rideau Canoe Club in 2022 and has spent the past three years coaching within the High-Performance program. He brings a growing foundation of technical expertise, athlete development experience, and an athlete first approach shaped by his work with competitive sprint athletes at multiple stages of the performance pathway.

​At Rideau, Adam is committed to fostering an athlete-centred environment that emphasizes long-term development, strong training habits, and evidence-based decision-making. He prioritizes clear communication, collaborative planning, and a supportive culture that helps athletes thrive both on and off the water.

Cayley Fortier - U14 Program Coordinator

Cayley Fortier joined the Rideau Canoe Club in 2021, beginning as a coach before stepping into the role of U14 Program Coordinator in 2023. She coaches across multiple programs and age groups, bringing leadership and experience in athlete development across a variety of pathways and abilities.

At Rideau, Cayley is passionate about creating a welcoming environment that emphasizes quality training foundations which encourage young athletes to successfully transition through our program, with the goal of helping athletes thrive both as paddlers and as individuals. She prioritizes clear communication, planning, and collaboration to support positive, long-term development and a lasting love for the sport.
U16 Program Coordinator

Jacob Price - U16 Program Coordinator

Jacob Price trained as an athlete at RCC from the U10 level through Junior. He began coaching in 2022 and has served as the U16 Coordinator for the past three years. His primary focus is on supporting athletes as they transition from the development stream into the high-performance environment.
At Rideau, Jacob is dedicated to teaching athletes the skills, habits, and processes needed to reach their full potential. He emphasizes clear goal setting and a step-by-step approach to improvement, helping athletes focus on consistent daily actions and attitudes that lead to long-term growth and sustainable performance.
