Special Olympics (formery Paddle-ALL) was introduced by Canoe Kayak Canada over 10 years ago. This program promotes participation in the sport of Sprint Canoe Kayak for individuals with disabilities.
About the Program
Recreational and sprint canoes and kayaks are used to introduce paddlers with intellectual and physical disabilities to the sport of sprint racing. The program includes a safety orientation, technical instruction, and instruction by experienced coaches. Each paddler will have an experienced paddling partner for 1:1 support. Although all abilities are welcome, you must be comfortable on the water.

Canoe Kids Halfday Camp Integration
This half-day program (9-12 or 1-4) is designed to provide an opportunity for children with special needs or neurodiversity (ages of 7-12 or slightly older) to join the regular Canoe Kids summer camp with their own 1:1 coach. The participant will be supported within the camp with greater flexibility and support. Participants will follow the morning or afternoon schedule with their camp group which involves 2 different paddling sessions (kayak, canoe, SUP, or dragonboat) with a snack break each day. This program meets once a week for youth ages 7-18. Every paddler, with their paddling buddy, chooses their own boat based on comfort level and the evening is tailored to meet each paddler's needs. The focus is on fun and safety.
Dates and times: Mondays from 6-7:30 pm
July 8, 15, 22, 29, August 12 (Aug. 5 is a holiday - no paddling)
Fee - $125 + HST

- There is a limit of 8 participants in the Special Olympics Youth program.
- The Special Olympics Youth program runs for 5 weeks.
- Program execution is subject to sufficient participant registration.
- Please note there is no paddling on statutory holidays.

This program for adults ages 19 and older meets once a week. Every paddler, with their paddling buddy, chooses their own boat based on comfort level and the evening is tailored to assist each participant to meet their own goals whether for recreation, exercise, or technical development.
Dates and Time: Wednesdays from 6-7:30 pm

Fee - $150 + HST

Competitive Special Olympics
This program is for former participants in our Recreational Special Olympics program who are interested in training with the outcome of racing at local regattas and the possibility of competing at the National Championships.
Spring Training
Dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7:15 pm
For athletes looking to race at Ontario Team Trials and Canada Cup
May 14 - June 27
Fee - $178 + HST
Summer Training
Dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7:15 pm
For athletes looking to race in regattas and at Nationals
July 2 - August 14

Tips
Wear comfortable, stretchy clothing and bring a change of clothes in case you get wet. Bring a water bottle, hat, and sunscreen. Standard club issued personal flotation devices are provided but if you have your own, please bring it along.
