About the Paracanoe Program
Welcome to the new Rideau Canoe Club Intro to Paracanoe! We're so excited to welcome new athletes into our club and to share our passion for paddling on the Rideau River. The Introduction to Paracanoe program is for para-athletes or people with physical disabilities that are interested in trying the sport of paracanoe. This program includes on water fitness and development of canoeing/kayaking skills that serve as a baseline for paddling recreation and could be an entry point into the competitive sport of paracanoe. Initial sessions will focus on getting everyone comfortable out on the water and adapting equipment where necessary. Later sessions will focus on longer paddles and fitness sessions. Boats and paddles will be provided. We have personal flotation devices but you are encouraged to bring your own.

The Rideau Canoe Club is grateful for the support of CanoeKayak Canada and the WePaddle initiative, that helped establish the Paracanoe program.

This season, the RCC is focusing on the next step of the paracanoe program: Integrating current paddlers into programs.  Our team of coaches works with each athlete to determine their unique needs, how the club can best support them and finding the right program fit.

For more information regarding Rideau's paracanoe program, please contact [email protected]

Tips
