Priority for time slots
Teams who had 15 or more sessions in the previous season will have priority to book the same time/day they had the previous season*. If they elect to do so, they must notify the dragon boat coordinator ([email protected]) by February 15th 11:59 EST or they will lose their priority for that particular day/time and it will be opened to other teams to book. The February 15th deadline will be strictly enforced. The motivation of this change is to allow teams to notify members sooner to ultimately ensure strong attendance at practices.
From February 16th until February 29th, returning teams with between 1 and 15 practices in the previous season will be able to request practice days/times via email ([email protected]). These practices will be held in queue and entered into the system by the dragon boat coordinator based on our Priority Policy (see below). On March 1st the on-line booking system will be opened for all teams, including brand new teams, to register for practices.
*In the case where practices took place at an inconsistent day/time we will work on a best effort basis.
Priority Policy
In a case where two teams want the same day/time, priority will be given to the team that had more practices in the previous season. In the case where two teams had the same amount of practices in the previous season, the team with the most lifetime practices with the RCC will receive priority. Below is a link that show sthe priority your team has for booking sessions this season.

Priority for coaches:
Over the past few seasons we have done our best to accommodate every coach request. However, we have still experienced situations where a coach was double booked. For this year and moving forward coaching assignments will work on a first come first serve basis. Teams will be able to request a coach and at that time the coach will be contacted and asked if they would like to coach the team on the day/time specified. If the coach is available and willing, the coach will be booked for that day/time and no longer available. Unfortunately we are not able to guarantee that your requested coach will be available but we will make our best efforts. Availability for both boats and coaches can be seen from the following link.
*** Please note that coaches have not yet filled in availability so most will show as always available. Change the coach selection and click ‘Go’ to see a specific coaches availability. ***

Payments:
Over the last few seasons we have had an increasing amount of late payments and, in some cases, teams have not paid until after the season. We know that, as a captain, fee collection can be difficult and it is our hope that by enforcing some deadlines it will ensure that captains and the RCC aren't left trying to collect the majority fees at the end of the season. We will now require a 25% deposit of the season fees on March 15th (practices that are booked). Invoices will be sent out once practices are booked and payment options will be explained.
Online Portal:
Each year we are trying more and more to get teams to utilize the team portal. When logging into the portal you are able to review your practices, fees, payments, coaches, boat assignments, etc. We are working hard to bring more and more services to the portal to help captains manage their teams. If you do not know your password or have further questions regarding the portal please do not hesitate to contact us.

Boat Assignments:
Boats will be assigned this year and will be available on the coach portal and the team portal. When a boat is described as BUK it is any of the 5 BUK boats available at the club. The Nortel boat represents the teak boat. Teams are allowed to switch boats if both teams are in agreement. However, the assignments for future practices will not be changed. (ie. If team A is assigned a BUK boat but takes the Nortel boat one week because they have too many people that does not count as their session in the Nortel boat). Please note that as more teams book sessions, boat assignments will change, so it is always a good idea to occasionally check your boat assignments online.
Practice Times:
Practice times for this season are as follows. Practice length is 55-60 minutes and they are the following:
* Special Note: Given the early sunset during the first few weeks of the season we will be modifying evening practice start times on week-days ONLY. Sessions will start 5 minutes earlier. Regular hours will re-commence Monday May 20th.
