DONATE FOR THE DOCK
The Rideau Canoe Club is in urgent need of new docks.
With the support of the City of Ottawa, the Club has launched a fundraiser to raise $50,000 for a series of articulated floating docks.
These new docks will increase our dock space and provide a safe launch for all paddlers, including our dragon boat athletes.
In addition, the docks are designed to ensure accessibility for our Para and Paddle All athletes.
Every donation will be matched dollar for dollar by the City of Ottawa, and every donation over $10.00 will be issued a tax receipt.
All donors will be recognized on our fundraising site, and major donors over $250 will be recognized on a future donor board at the Rideau Canoe Club.
(Donors who wish to remain anonymous may opt to do so on the Sport 4 Ontario donation page)
Thanks and see you on the dock in 2021!

FARQUHARSON FAMILY DOCK
The Farquharson family is honored to donate to the Rideau Canoe Club dock fundraising program in memory of Anne Farquharson. Anne Farquharson passed away this year due to COVID-19 and due to the ongoing restrictions the family has been struggling to find an appropriate way to celebrate her life.
The naming of a Farquharson Family dock at the RCC gives our family an opportunity to recognize our mother/grandmother. It is the family’s hope that the broader paddling community sees it also as a dedication to all paddling families that have built the RCC into the community institution that it is today, especially to the Moms of those families. In the long journey of raising a family with all the ups and downs in life, we know that Anne was grateful to have her family involved in the Rideau Canoe Club. The club has been a place for her children and grandchildren to be a part of, to develop as people, and meet life long friends
Many thanks to the Farquharson family for such a generous donation. The club is honored to be the site of such a beautiful dedication and wonderful memorial.
DRAGON BOAT - MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Over the past month, Ottawa's Dragon Boat Community has gone above and beyond in support of our fundraising efforts for a series of new docks.
We would like to thank the members of the Bytown Dragon Boat Club, who helped to raise $7000 for our campaign. In addition, we received news last week that the Dragon Boat Foundation will generously be contributing $5000 to the dock campaign.
Thank you to everyone at the Bytown Dragon Boat Club, Dragon Boat Foundation and Dragon Boat community at large for making a difference.
You are the best!
Thank you Ottawa Dragon Boat community!
We did it!
Thanks to all who donated, big and small, to "Lucy's Dock". Stay tuned for details about the official naming of "Lucy's Dock" in 2021.
A group of RCC alumni are raising funds, as part of the RCC dock fundraiser, to have one of the new floating docks named “Lucy’s Dock”. Lucy Slade was a Rideau paddler in the 80s and 90s. She was an amazing athlete winning medals at the Pan Am Games and Canada Summer Games. More importantly, she was a kind-hearted, gutsy, devoted teammate. Lucy went on to coach at Rideau and then at the CascadeCanoe Club where her two sons now paddle. In 2011 at age 38, Lucy died from skin cancer.
Lucy’s dad Charles Slade has played a significant role at the Rideau Canoe Club and in the provincial and national paddling community. He was RCC Commodore from 2006 – 2013, is a lifetime member, has served on the EOD,CKO and CKC Boards, directed the Ottawa Dragonboat Festival and continues to officiate at regattas.
We want to continue to honour Lucy’s memory at Rideau. Athletes young and old launching boats from a dock in Lucy’s name would be a great tribute to Lucy and the Slade family. Our goal is to raise $10 000 in Lucy’s name (as part of the Club dock fundraiser). We are off to a great start and hope that, with your help, we can reach this goal.
