U14 SPRINT TRAINING - SUMMER
For girls and boys from 9 to 14 years old.
Signing up will be the best decision you make for you and your children.
2020 Summer Training runs from July xx to August xx.
This is a full-day summer long paddling program that provides instruction and training for beginners and experienced paddlers. The focus is on learning paddling skills, enjoying the beautiful Rideau River, making friends, and age-appropriate training that follows Long Term Athlete Development principles. Groups are divided into U10, U12, and U14 categories. They are organized by ability and rotate through 4 blocks every day:
The Rideau Canoe Club supplies all paddling equipment. Although we have PFD’s for paddlers we highly recommend that paddlers wear a personally owned PFD to ensure comfort and fit for paddling. Paddlers must bring a water bottle, sunscreen, hat, running shoes, spare clothing and a healthy lunch and snacks each day. Clothes that are light, loose fitting and made of quick drying fabric are best.
There are opportunities to race in local and provincial level regattas. A racing jersey is required for all EOD and Ontario sanctioned events. These are available for sale at the office.
Club membership is required to participate in Sprint Paddling Programs. Membership covers the full calendar year. There are individual and family memberships available. LEARN MORE about membership.
All paddlers must be competent swimmers (swim test required or waiver?)
