Coaching Staff

Coordinators
  • U15 - Cheyenne Farquharson
Cheyanne’s journey in her coaching career began after 12 years as a competitive paddler and swimmer.  She has coached for the last 5 years.  She began her career running Rideau’s Regatta Ready program.  She loved it so much that she decided to study Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa.  Since her journey began she has coached at Poverty Bay Kayak Club in Gisborne, New Zealand, worked as Assistant Head Coach and Junior High Performance Coach at the Carleton Place Canoe Club, as well as a Canada Games Apprentice Coach.

Cheyanne enjoys working with entry level athletes attending their first regatta or completing their first 5km run.
  • U17 - Andres Carranco
Andres has been coaching sprint canoe/kayak for Rideau Canoe for the past 5 years in both our U15 and now U17 programs.  He is a graduate from the University of Ottawa Human Kinetics program. He loves helping athletes figure out the next step in developing their technique.
  • U23 / U19 - Diana Deek
Diana has been a sprint canoe kayak coach for 9 years.  She is a graduate in Human Kinetics and a Masters of Human Kinetics in Sport and Performance Psychology. Her career began at Rideau; she has gained experience working with clubs down east as a High Performance Coach and Assistant Head Coach at Cheema.  She has coached athletes at all levels; Bantam, U17 and U19+ programs.  She loves getting to know the athlete’s and seeing them achieve their goals.
  • Masters - Conrad Hutter

  • Angus Mortimer
Angus coaches U19, U23 and senior level athletes for Rideau.  He began his coaching this summer at the conclusion of an eleven year career representing Canada on the national team.  He competed in kayak at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, won gold at the 2007 Pan Am Games in Rio de Janeiro and qualified for numerous World Cup finals over the span of his international racing career.

His roots are purple and white having begun as a Rideau paddler with his siblings Ian and Lucy as well as mom Liz.  He looks forward to sharing his experience and enthusiasm with all Rideau athletes.
