Swim Assessment Pre-Camp Dates

All campers must complete a safety swim to assess camper swimming abilities. The assessment is consistent with the Lifesaving Society Swim to Survive Standard and involves rolling into deep water, swimming 50 meters (any stroke) and staying afloat for one minute.  Swim ability is assessed without a lifejacket or other flotation device. The Safety Swim must be completed before campers are allowed to head out on the water in boats.

We will be holding safety swims on the first day of each session however; there is the opportunity for campers to complete the assessment prior to the camping session. We will be holding two optional early bird drop-in safety sessions on June 14th and 15th from 10:30am to 12:30pm for campers to complete the safety swim.

Should the camper have any doubts or nerves about the swimming assessment we strongly encourage that they come in to our early bird session to complete the assessment. We also encourage parents to be in the water as campers complete the swim.
