Welcome back to another year of dragon boat at the Rideau Canoe Club. This year we are honored to welcome you into our brand new facility. We thank you again for your patience during last season. Below is a new bulletin outlining some information for the season. Over the season we will be doing a few news bulletins to help keep people informed about the season. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.
At the moment we are still not sure if water levels will be raised in time for the first practice sessions. We are hoping that water levels will be raised by Saturday April 30th allowing us to put the boats in the water however we won't know until the day of if they will be raising the water. Please understand that this is something out of our control and we will make our best efforts to communicate to you the status of the water levels as soon as they become available to us. Please assume that practices are on for the time being but advise your team members that this could be changed with very little notice. Team captains will be notified by email Saturday evening before 8pm if practices will be going forward for Sunday and Monday. We appreciate your patience. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
As a result of heavy machinery and traffic from the club renovation last season the field is being regraded and new sod is being laid down. As a result there is no available parking in the field. Parking will available in Riverview Mall (area indicated by purple rectangle) and Hogs Back Park (indicated by red circle). Please try to use alternate means of transportation or car pool as there will be limited space available. Ensure to communicate this to your team members. We are hoping to have completed the restoration of the grass by late June at which point you will be able to use the field again. Please note that if parking at Riverview Mall you MUST park in the designated areas which are marked by blue and/or red government signs. If you park near the Quickie or the restaurant you may be subject to a ticket of $49.00
Each year we are trying more and more to get teams to utilize the team portal. When logging into the portal you are able to review your practices, fees, payments, coaches, boat assignments, etc. We are working hard to bring more and more services to the portal to help captains manage their teams. If you do not know your password or have further questions regarding the portal please do not hesitate to contact me.

Boats will be assigned this year and will be available on the coach portal and the team portal. When a boat is described as BUK it is any of the 4 BUK boats available at the club. The Nortel boat represents the teak boat. Teams are allowed to switch boats if both teams are in agreement however the assignments for future practices will not be changed. (ie. If team A is assigned a BUK boat but takes the Nortel boat one week because they have too many people that does not count as their session in the Nortel boat)
For any individuals training outside the festival period (June 1st - June 18th) you must complete a waiver before practicing. Waivers are available for download at the link below and you can enter up to 3 names per waiver. Waivers are also available at the club and coaches can provide them upon request.

Practice times for this season are very similar to past years. Practice length is 55-60 minutes and they are the following:
Invoices have been sent out to teams and if you have not yet received your invoice please contact me and I will have one sent to you electronically. When payments are received they are entered against your account and can be viewed online through the portal. Deposits are made every two weeks so please note that although your payment may show in the online portal this does not mean that your cheque has been cashed.
