Masters' Banquet

posted Nov 21, 2012, 5:38 PM by Hector Carranco
On Friday November 16 approximately 50 of our Masters along with their friends and family gathered at the popular annual potluck dinner to celebrate another successful season.  And there was a lot to celebrate!  This year Rideau Masters raced in *8* regattas, including Nationals where Rideau was represented in all Masters singles K1 and C1 events, as well as in men's K1 Paracanoe, and we also entered 3 Masters crews in Junior women's K2 and K4 events.

Of course the highlight of the season was our participation at Canmas, where Rideau earned 3rd place in burgee points!!  Many athletes medalled in every race they entered and we achieved numerous personal bests as well.  Our visit to Dartmouth ended on a high note when Allison Cathcart was awarded female Kayaker of the Year by the Canmas committee for her longtime enthusiastic participation at Canmas events.  Congratulations Allison!

This year we awarded the Rideau Master of the Year trophy to Jade Puddington.  Jade demonstrated consistent strong performance all season long and also made valuable club contributions as a volunteer at several regattas and club events.  Jade is someone we can always count on to raise team spirit and lend a helping hand.  Congratulations Jade!
