From Maria McRae to the Rideau Canoe Club - The Good News Continues

posted Sep 6, 2010, 6:12 PM by Hector Carranco
Hello everyone:

Congratulations again on a fabulous event last Friday!  The new building is superb and as you know, we all appreciate your excellent work on this project.  I have more good news…

This Wednesday, City staff are providing City Council with their recommendation to approve a list of additional shovel-ready Infrastructure Stimulus Fund (ISF) projects.  The recycling of surplus funds, from the delivery of the ISF projects that were approved by the Federal and Provincial Governments on June 5, 2009, will fund these additional projects.

I am pleased to let you know that City staff are recommending the funding of the Judges’ Tower for the RCC.  I will strongly advocate on behalf of this project and will keep you updated as to the outcome of the meeting.  Once approved by Council, staff will proceed to immediately implement the additional projects, subject to approval from the Federal and Provincial governments.  As with all ISF projects, if approved, the tower must be completed by March 31, 2011.

I am particularly grateful to support of City staff.

Please feel free to share this information with all members and supporters of the country’s first fully accessible canoe/kayak club and anyone else who may be interested in this project!

Again, congratulations!

With warmest regards,

Maria McRae
