1000m Finals and 200m heats

posted Aug 16, 2009, 3:22 AM by Hector Carranco

Saturday it was the hottest day this summer. The heat was felt on the water too since early in the morning. The first final was the K1 1000m Men featuring Ken Wallace, Adam van Koeverden, Anders Gustafsson and the German Hoff who took the gold. Adam gave the Canadian team the first and only medal in the day, the bronze, and Anders got the silver.

After that the Canadian team was close to the podium but couldn’t materialize the great efforts in medals until Nicole Haywood had an impressive performance in the C1 500m Women Final beating everyone else for more than 8 seconds!

Immediately after Christine Gauthier got the gold in the 200m paddleability race.

Sunday is the last day of competition: The 500m and 200m finals and the relays. Check the results at http://www.canoe09.ca
