On Thursday 16 more than 170 Rideau members and friends were at the 2014 Awards Banquet. It was a great night of fun celebration where the Sportsmanship, Most Improved and Most Valuable Paddler awards were presented to paddlers in the U13, U15, U19, Jr/Sr, and Masters categories as well as the PaddleAll Athlete of the Year and the Volunteer of the Year award.

We had several special guests in attendance: Al McCleery, John Beedel and Bob Kay who paddled for Canada a few years ago. Also Maria McRae was there in one of her last appearances as City Councillor.

Ian Mortimer did a great job as MC highlighting this year's achievements: Ontario Champions, 5th Place at Nationals with more than 30 medals and 7 crews that will go on the wall! A great list of Rideau paddlers that represented Canada in different international competitions and the awards recipients:

After all the speeches and a great dinner the dance started with many of the athletes and parents sharing the dance floor!
