Important Dates
  1. January 15th -  Practices can be booked by returning teams that had 15 or more practices in the previous season
  2. February 15th - Last day for returning teams that had 15 practices or more in the previous season to confirm they would like the previous years day/time
  3. February 16th - 24th - Teams with less then 15 practices in the previous season can send practice requests via email. Practices will be entered into the system based on priority.
  4. February 25th - On-line system opened to all teams
  5. *UPDATED* April 1st - Non-Refundable Deposit of 25% of the season must be paid.
  6. May 5th - First Day of practices
  7. October 13th - Last Day of practices
Dragon boat teams may book practices through the Rideau Canoe Club as of January 15th each year for sessions beginning the first week of May and continuing through to October.  Teams are made up of 22 individuals (including one drummer and one steersperson) and can be competitive or recreational, mixed, male or female.  Some imaginative teams book practices for parties and office functions and companies often book sessions as team building exercises - it really is a novel and fun activity!  

To become a dragon boat paddler on your own, you need not be a top-notch athlete - you simply need the drive and commitment to get out and enjoy yourself.  The goal of our program is to promote fun, fitness and friendship.  To find teams looking for paddlers (or to find paddlers looking for teams), check out the RCC Dragon Boat Paddler page or visit the Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival website message board.

RCC Summer Dragon Boat Programs & Events

The Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival is held every year at Mooney's Bay Park (across from RCC).  Teams race 500m, 200m, and 100m distances. Last year 200 teams participated.

Come and join us this year for what is going to be a great event. On August 24th, 2013, RCC will be hosting its 6th annual Dragon Boat Festival.  Please stay tuned as more information will be posted shortly!

Join our exciting Dragon Boat League held right here at the Canoe Club.  This program runs throughout the summer and is a great way to meet new people and stay fit.  It is also a good opportunity to network with paddlers from other teams.

This is a Summer long program for adults with developmental disabilities. It runs weekly on Wednesdays from 1:30 - 3:00pm.

The Youth Dragon Boat Festival is held every year at the Rideau Canoe Club.  Teams are composed primarily of high schools for the Ottawa and Gatineau area.
