The Rideau Canoe Club is located on some of the best training flat water in the country on Mooney's Bay in Ottawa. We have been consistently among the top canoe clubs in Canada at the National Championships. We are the 2018 Canadian Sprint CanoeKayak Champions! Over the years, the club has managed to successfully maintain its performance at the highest level, while continuing to offer successful programs to paddlers of all ages in Summer Camps, Sprint, Paddling and Dragon Boat programs.

  • Canteen Staff Part Time

The Rideau Canoe Club is looking for an enthusiastic, mature, organized individual to work part time at the RCC Canteen. Canteen at RCC will be open weekdays during the summer months offering snacks and light meals for sale to club members and camp participants.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 
  • implement weekly menus 
  • plan and supervise the work of other canteen staff as scheduled 
  • prepare daily meals and snacks in the canteen 
  • work the cash, give change, count money 
  • maintain an organized, sanitary work environment by implementing safe food handling practices 
REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Having Food Handler Certification in an asset http://www.ottawapublichealth.ca/en/professionals-and-partners/certified-food-handler-training.aspx 
  • must be available to work throughout June and August, while the canteen is open.

  • PaddleAll Competitive Program Coach

The Paddle All Competitive program is hiring coaches for the 2019 summer season. This program runs Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 20th to August 20th, 2019 from 6:15-7:15 p.m. Coaches will also be required to attend regional regattas with their athletes throughout the summer. Regattas occur on weekends - dates TBD. This program aims to offer an opportunity for people living with intellectual disabilities to be able to enjoy competitive kayaking while in a safe and friendly environment.

Requirements: 
    • Police records check (vulnerable sector) required.
    • First aid and CPR C certification required. 
    • Pleasure craft operator card required.
    • Paddling experience required.
    • Coaching experience is an asset.
    • Experience working with persons living with disabilities is an asset.
    • Community coach and/or ELCC certification are an asset. 

  • PaddleAll Recreational Program Coach

The Paddle All Recreational program is hiring coaches for the 2019 summer season. This program runs Mondays and Wednesdays from July 8th to August 14th, 2019 from 6:30-8 p.m. The sessions are youth or adult specific and the aim is to offer an opportunity for people living with all types of abilities and disabilities to be able to enjoy canoeing and kayaking while in a safe and friendly environment.

  • Dock Duty Supervisor

The Rideau Canoe club is looking for an enthusiastic individual to work as full-time Dock Duty Supervisor.  The Dock Duty Supervisor will be working full time around the club and supervising the dock duty staff. The dock duty supervisor will have 3 major responsibilities: supervise the dock duty staff; be in charge of the canoe club motor boats; and supervise the dock. Pay rate is based on certification and experience.

Supervising Staff
  • Scheduling and supervising Dock Duty workers
  • Collecting and approving time sheets to be emailed to Payroll
  • Being in constant contact with the Club Administrator
Equipment
  • Ensuring motor boats are in working order at the start of each day
  • Assist during regattas with set-up, clean-up & tear-down
  • Assist with the race course setup and maintenance
  • Ensuring motor boats are locked up properly
Dock Supervision
  • Greeting the public/members and providing information about our club and programs
  • Ensure unsupervised paddlers leaving the dock are in compliance with club policies
  • Provide safety supervision for the dock area
  • Assist in responding to emergencies as needed and completing necessary reports
  • Closing up and securing building at the end of the day 
  • Ontario Pleasure Craft Operator Card
  • Standard First Aid and CPR C
  • Police Check
  • Organizational Skills

  • Dock Duty Staff

The Rideau Canoe club is looking for an enthusiastic people to work part-time as Dock Duty Staff.  Dock Duty Staff will be working part-time over the summer to make sure the canoe club is always tidy and safe. Dock Duty Staff will answer questions from visitors.

  • Must be comfortable lifting 20 lbs, being outdoors and engaging with people
